Comets! C/2017 T2 and C/2019 Y4

It took sometime to get my EAA setup working and to become more familiar with its operation. Now, I am finally using it and the weather lately has allowed me to view some incredible sights.

Tonight, as well as continuing my Messier Challenge I wanted to view two comets C/2017 T2 (PANSTARRS) in Cassiopeia and C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) in Ursa major.

First up was C/2017 T2 - This a cropped image, direct from SharpCap 15 sec x 23 frames (345 seconds total exposure), Gain 6584, raw14, bin 2x2 and 1 dark frame. My usual CPC-800, Altair Hypercam setup.

A little massaging of the curves in GIMP gave a little more coma and tail.

I did some EAA observing for a while before returning for my second comet of the evening C/2019 Y4. 15 seconds x 29 frames (435 seconds total exposure). Same setup as above.

Again, a little tinkering to bring out some features.

Hopefully, C/2019 Y4 will increase in brightness (as predicted) and it will put on a show.
